Entertaiment is a multifaceted and ever-changing universe that caters to the complexities of human emotions and intellect. It ranges from an individual choosing a personal entertainment source among a vast array of available options to a group gathering for a feast, ceremony, or celebration; and can extend to performances geared for thousands—even an audience global in scope. While entertainment is often associated with fun and joy, it also can be a means of upliftment and a tool for socialization, education, catharsis, and cerebral engagement. The word entertain derives from the Medieval Latin intertenere, from the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere to hold inside.
